Dryer Making Noise - Dryer Is Making A Thumping Noise

As a service company we hear the following claim all the time, "The belt in my dryer is making a noise." We have even cleaned up dryer belts that were sprayed with a lubricant thinking that the problem would go away.

However, the dryer belt tension is controlled by a heavy spring which eliminates noise issues. In most cases dryer belts do not make noise they will just break.

Typically the rollers or drum glides wear out producing the noise that our customers complain about. Sometimes the idler pulley that keeps the tension on the belt makes noise.

The blower wheel will make a grinding or a growling noise at the initial start up and shut down of the dryers operation.

Dryer Noise

Dryer belt tension is controlled by a heavy spring, which eliminates noise issues from the belt. In most cases dryer belts do not make noise they will just break.

Typically the rollers or drum glides wear out producing a thumping or metal grinding noise.

When the dryer idler pulley that keeps the tension on the belt gets worn out it will start to squeak and make noise.

The blower wheel will make a grinding or a growling noise at the initial start up and shut down of the dryers operation when it is stripped out on the motor shaft.
