Dryer Warranty

As of Nov.1st, 2005, Whirlpool brands including Whirlpool, Roper, Estate and Inglis have a 1-year parts and labor warranty, no extended parts or labor warranties.

As of Jan.1st, 2006, Electrolux brands including Frigidaire, Gallery, Frigidaire Professional, White Westinghouse, Tappan, Gibson, and Kelvinator have only a 1-year warranty and no extended parts or labor warranties.

GE appliances manufactured after Jan.1st, 2006, have only a 1-year warranty and no extended parts or labor warranties.

Maytag manufactured appliances except Jenn-Air made after Jan.1st, 2006, have only a 1-year warranty and no extended parts or labor warranties.

Are extended warranties worth the money?
Extended warranties on appliances and electronic devices are a huge business. They're offered by retailers and third-party providers on everything from washing machines and dryers to Apple iPods. And since extended warranty companies actually pay so few claims, the profit margins on them run as high as 40% to 80%, says Marlys Harris, finance editor for Consumer Reports. That can pad a company's bottom line nicely. During 2004, in fact, nearly 100% of Circuit City Stores and 50% of Best Buy's operating income came from extended warranties, say analysts. Is it any wonder that the big box retailers aggressively push these contracts? Source, SmartMoney.com

Most likely the best service companies in your area refuse to work with extended warranty or home warranty companies. That’s because these companies have full time employees designated to find ways not to pay claims. At the Appliance Service Center we actually had an extended warranty company call us for a second opinion. They wanted us to agree with them that closing the door too hard on a dishwasher was probably the reason the electronic control failed. The company representative tried everything to get us to agree with him. We told him it was a ridiculous concept and that they were just looking for a reason to bounce the claim. We also told him that this was the reason we refuse to work with his company.
